The role of a Post-Partum Doula can vary greatly depending on the needs of the family on any given day. Some days the new mother may need emotional help; someone to listen to concerns and provide emotional support. Other days she may need hands on help with doing laundry, making lunch, and holding baby whilst the new mother takes a shower. As a Post-Partum Doula, I help where my help is most needed.

 

Basic Services often included in a Post-Partum Visit:

 

- help 'mother' the Mother, ensuring the new Mama is best able to care for her new baby. This can include emotional and hands on physical support.

 

- light housework and meal preparation.

 

- local errands, such as grocery or drug store trips.

 

- breastfeeding support.

 

- help care for older siblings.

 

- help implement any Attachment Parenting methods, such as baby wearing, co-sleeping and gentle parenting. I can also help with cloth diapering.

 

Pregnancy Visits

 

I am also available for visits to your home before baby arrives, helping to organize and prepare your home for your labor and baby's delivery. This can include helping to stock your freezer and pantry for post-partum snacks and meals, organizing baby's clothing, diapers and other items.

Rates

 

Visits are made to your home or hospital, for a minimum of three hours at a time. My rate is $25 an hour.

 

Number of Visits

 

The number of visits varies by the family; some families may need a visit or two, while others may like to have more regular visits over the first couple of months of a baby's arrival.

 

Location

 

I work with families living in western Fairfax County (Reston, Herndon, Chantilly, Centreville, Vienna, Fairfax, Great Falls) and eastern Loudoun County areas (Sterling, Ashburn, Leesburg).

 

Availability

 

I work with families on a first-come-first-served basis. Some families choose to contact me and secure my availability before baby arrives, while others prefer to wait until baby is 'skin side'!

 

I require a non-refundable deposit of $150; this amount will be applied towards my first six hours wokring with you.
